About This Course

Two traditions, one keyboard —  Hindustani rages rendered with piano technique and care.

The piano wasn't built for glides and microtones, but with the right technique — grace notes, mordents, sustain pedal work and careful phrasing — it can capture the spirit of Hindustani ragas beautifully. At Namah, we teach this fusion as its own structured discipline, not an afterthought.

Whether you already play piano and want to explore Indian classical music, or you know Hindustani vocals/instruments and want to bring that knowledge to the keyboard — our curriculum takes you there step by step, with a mentor who's fluent in both worlds.

Classes are live and personal. Your mentor listens, corrects, demonstrates, and helps you translate swar and taal into piano technique, so every session moves you forward.

What you'll actually learn

A structured path that builds piano technique and Hindustani raga theory side by side, mapped into clear modules.

Piano Basics & Keyboard Geography

Posture, hand position, note reading and keyboard layout — the foundation everything else builds on.

Raga Theory & Swar Mapping

Understanding shuddh & komal swars, thaats, and how each maps onto the piano's white and black keys.

Ornamentation on Piano

Approximating meend (glides) and gamak with grace notes, mordents and pedal technique — capturing the raga's character.

Popular Raga Melodies

Simple, well-loved raga tunes — Yaman, Bhairav, Bageshree and more — arranged specifically for piano.

Taal & Rhythmic Accompaniment

Matching tabla-style rhythm cycles and playing bols on piano to build a strong sense of laya.
